The site is linked to www.designforhomes.org our main website, the portal for UK residential design, which receives 1m hits per month. Among other important initiatives, the site hosts the Housing Design Awards dating back to 1997. In other words, a lot of web-traffic relevant to residential architects is generated across to Architect Search.

Events - opportunities to promote your practice to developers
Practices are invited to attend or speak at client rich events. In 2003 Design for Homes held 26 seminars at 8 regional meeting places for the House Builders Federation, whose members build 80% of all new homes in the UK. In all over 30 practices from Architect Search spoke to over 1000 developers, and many more practices attended the sessions for free to make the most of the networking opportunities. Design for Homes is running seminars and conferences with the HBF and other organisations again this year which Architect Search practices will be able to attend free or at a discount. We will keep you informed of opportunities as they come up.

Research
Design for Homes Popular Housing Research has recently published Perceptions of Privacy and Density in Housing, a unique piece of research that reveals the issues of Space Security Sight and Sound issues that arise from residents living in 8 different house-types from Edwardian mansion blocks to Greennwich Millennium Village. Competitions
Design for Homes is running real competitions with real developers to build groundbreaking new homes. Architect Search practices can enter the competitions for free. Other practices may pay more than the cost of having 5 images on an Architect Search page for a year to enter. You will be among the first to know of competition entry details.

Advertising
Architect Search is marketed directly to housebuilders through our seminar and conference programme and through direct mail. CLICK HERE to see the details on 25 seminars run with the HBF membership last year.

For homeowner clients, the website is advertised within the Architects section of Yell.co.uk and within Home Building titles. We also promote the directory at the Homebuilding shows.

PR
Though most of our enquiries come from our direct contact with developers and from homeowners finding us trough search engines, Architect Search is also promoted across construction titles and broadsheets. Recent articles will be added here soon.

Pictures
The directory remains the only one of its kind to successfully use images as the primary tool to clients selecting practices, the best way for clients to quickly get a feel for the practices work and potential.

Links
Design for Homes works with cross-industry organisations such as the House Builders Federation, English Partnerships, CABE and the Civic Trust, the National Housing Federation the Housing Forum and the RIBA to promote better design within house building. Running events and initiatives with these organisations is a great way to channel relevant professionals to look at your work on Architect Search. One example of this is Building for Life, an HBF, CABE Civic Trust and Design for Homes initiative to promote quality residential schemes. The awards are unique in the housing industry they are given throughout the year, often before schemes are completed. So developers can promote the scheme as an award winner to potential buyers, and other developers are set a benchmark to aim for.
